THE SPOILED UNDER-40 CROWD!!!

If you are 40 or older you will think this is hilarious!!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious shite about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning....
Uphill... barefoot... BOTH ways Yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of shit like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it!

But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of forty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a f**ing Utopia!

And I hate to say it, but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the bloody library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen!

Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take, like, a week to get there!

Stamps were 5 pence!

Child Protective Services didn't care if our parents beat us. As a matter of fact, the parents of all my friends also had permission to kick the shit out of us! Nowhere was safe!

There were no MP3' s or Napsters! If you wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the  record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ would usually talk over the beginning and f*&k it all up! There were no CD players! We had tape decks in our car. We'd play our favorite tape and "eject" it when finished and the tape would come undone. Cause - that's how we rolled, dig?

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either!
When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mum, your boss, your bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics!
We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'Asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen... forever!
And you could never win.

The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your ass and walk over to the TV to change the channel!

NO REMOTES!!!

There was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the cooker! Imagine that!

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You little arseholes wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1970
or before!

Regards,
The Over 40 Crowd

Plume School : Safety Alert - Facebook

8 September 2010 - 14.45pm

To all Parents/Carers

The following alert was received from a neighbouring school. It has been checked thoroughly by our Child Protection Officer and is a genuine alert. The same message has been emailed to all students today and a link will  be placed on our school website.

Facebook have launched a new application - Facebook Places.  When it is enabled, anyone can find out where you are when you are logged in. It gives the actual address & map location of where you are as you use Facebook.

This is very dangerous information and it is recommended that you do not provide this information. You are enabled automatically without being told so it is really important to disable this immediately so that people on Facebook can’t see where you are all the time.

TO UNDO:

Go to Profile->Privacy>Edit your privacy settings->Custom->Customise settings and then change - Things I Share-: uncheck 'Include me in People Here now' and also disable 'Friends can check me in to places'.

PLEASE make sure you disable this as soon as you can.

Big thanks and congratulations to all who took part in our Essex 100 ride on Sunday!   And, thanks for making the ride such a fantastic event.  From the feedback on the day (and some emails since) everyone seemed to enjoy the route (and the food!) and we certainly enjoyed looking after you!  The weather was very kind to us on the day, considering the rest of the country had a downpour!

Almost 450 brilliant riders took part and we hope to raise an amazing amount of money.  Thank you so very much from all of us at Action Medical Research - we really appreciate the massive effort that goes into raising every penny.  The reason for putting on this ride is to raise money to help find ways to prevent life-threatening pregnancy complications and premature birth, improve the quality of life for children with disabilities, and tackle rare and devastating conditions for which there are currently no cures.

Sponsorship - many have already donated online or handed their sponsorship in on the day - thank you so much.  I would be grateful if you could please gather any outstanding sponsorship money in as soon as possible.  Send your cheque (made payable to Action Medical Research) and sponsorship form to: Essex 100, Action Medical Research, Vincent House, North Parade, Horsham, Sussex, RH12 2DP.

Or, if you prefer to pay by credit/debit card, please go to our website www.action.org.uk click on 'sponsor a friend', and sponsor yourself on line!  If you have any problems making a payment contact our Supporter Services Department, on 01403 210406 between 10am-4pm quoting Essex 100.

Our photographer took loads of photos - you can access them at http://www.sportivephoto.com over the next few days – hope you were smiling!

We have also partnered with My Sporting Times to develop a range of bespoke framed mementos which celebrate all of your hard work and create a lasting memory of your fantastic achievements.  Click on http://www.mysportingtimes.com/section.htm?section=framed-race-momentos

We are keen to make our Rides as good as they possibly can be and would really appreciate your views and ideas, so we can make it bigger and better next year.
Help us by clicking on this link http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/essex100

We are also very grateful to have the support of Zipvit www.zipvitsport.co.uk for all our rides and hope you were pleased with your goody bag.

Next year the Essex 100 will be on 4 September – why not put the date in your diary now!  Or you can even register now at www.action.org.uk/york100.

Look forward to seeing you again,

Jane Moon
